As a Program Officer (Corporate Engagements) in PRIA you will identify, secure and manage all corporate/business donors, coordinate arrangements for on-site visits and tours for prospect and current donors, work with senior management to coordinate the full range of activities required to expand and strengthen corporate engagement, organize and participate in dialogues and conversations bringing together multiple stakeholders.

–        Ability to develop collaborative, professional corporate/business relationships.
–        Work independently and be self-motivated in initiating contacts with potential donors.

RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES AT FOUNDATION FOR DEMOCRATIC REFORMS

Foundation for Democratic Reforms (FDR) is one of India’s leading think-tanks and research-resource centers for formulating and promoting fundamental reforms in political, electoral and governance spheres and in critical areas of state policy. It was established in 1996 and is based in Hyderabad, India. The goals of FDR are
furthered by the activities of LOK SATTA (People Power), which was established in 1997 and quickly grew into India’s largest citizens’ movement.

1. Research Associate :
Work and responsibilities at Research Associate position include:

  • Research, analysis, advocacy and communication on governance issues (electoral and political reforms, local government, judicial reforms, administrative reforms, education reforms and the public policy issues)
  • Research Associate is expected to prepare high quality issue briefs, background notes and advocacy material on various policy issues
  • Evaluation of various government policies and outcomes in defined sectors with focus on AP.

Research Associate @ Development Research and Policy Initiatives – Sehgal Foundation

DEVELOPMENT RESEARCH AND POLICY INITIATIVES (DRPI)
DRPI focuses on strategic and policy level studies, and attempts to understand poverty dynamics in a rural context and throws light on concepts of vulnerability, exclusion and marginalization. The theme also attempts to contribute to the larger body of knowledge through participating in thematic discourses which align with the ambit of Sehgal Foundation’s work. Organizing roundtables and conferences on key development issues is an important component of this theme which furthers the purpose of disseminating knowledge created at the grassroots.

POSITION: Research Associate

Key Responsibilities
1. Collect qualitative data through Focus Group Discussions, Key Informant Interviews, Case Studies and Observations in rural contexts relevant to Sehgal Foundation’s work
2. Edit the raw dataset obtained from the field before the data entry process. Coordinate correction work and documentation of errors
3. Conduct training sessions on qualitative and quantitative tools with the research field team

Research Associate @ IIMB

Currently, Dream a Dream runs an Innovation Lab engaging 10,000 young people every year referred from 40 partners, has transformed over 2000 educators from 38 schools impacting over 50,000 young people and engaged over 2500 volunteers.
Dream a Dream is considered to be a pioneer in the Life Skills space in India. The Dream Life Skills Assessment Scale developed in-house is today a published, standardized scale that can be used by any NGO/School to assess improvement in life skills. Job Responsibility
The primary responsibility of this role is plan, design, conduct, manage and report high-quality research projects. The purpose of which is to build an evidence base for Life Skills that supports Dream a Dream’s 2016-21 strategic intent to ‘Build a movement to equip millions of young people from vulnerable backgrounds with Life Skills to overcome adversity and flourish in the 21st century’.
Reporting to Director – Research and Advocacy, the function supports the research and advocacy strategy designed to select, commission and interpret research [both academic and informal] to support the hypotheses that developing life skills enables young people from vulnerable backgrounds to overcome adversity and flourish in a fast changing world. The domain areas for research would include child development, youth development, education, teacher development and Life Skills.

As the Research Manager you’ll need to:
1. Discuss with the leadership team/ program leads to understand the nature of the research to be carried out
2. Articulate hypotheses of the research to be undertaken
3. Design research studies that meet the rigour of academic standards
4. Use appropriate and creative methodologies to test hypotheses. This may involve the use of quantitative and/or qualitative methods and may include both pilot and development work
5. Design questionnaires
6. Apply a range of research techniques to gather relevant information, including document analysis, surveys, case studies and interviews
7. Gather information directly or liaise with and direct field interviewers to gather information
8. Develop electronic databases to gather and analyse data
9. Analyse and evaluate research and interpret data, making sure that key issues are identified
10. Produce research-based briefings, advice and action plans
11. Prepare, present and disseminate results in academic journals
12. Prepare and present tenders for new research projects
13. Provide evidence of the impact of Dream a Dream’s work on young people by analyzing programmatic data and interpreting results for the impact evaluation studies

Must have demonstrated people skills and excellent relationship skills – collaboration, cooperation, conflict resolution, understanding others, positive attitude and friendly demeanor. Must have, or be willing to develop, strong positive relationships with local community leaders, academicians, friends of the organization and associates.

Language Skills: Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing in English, including excellent listening skills. Demonstrated ability to synthesize a broad
range of ideas into cogent communications. Excellent writing, analysis and presentation
skills.

Administrative Skills: Extreme attention to detail, ability to manage multiple project

Digital Identity Research @ ISB

Digital Identity Research Initiative (DIRI)

DIRI is a targeted and multidisciplinary research initiative to explore key questions around digital identity systems with a focus on Aadhaar. It was launched on July 5, 2017 in collaboration with Omidyar Network.

India has the world’s largest biometric enabled digital identity system in use and in its present form, Aadhaar presents unique challenges as well as represents enormous potential to address existing challenges of democratic governance, economic development, social justice, and environment sustainability, with deep implications for India and the world. The Government of India has been working on making Aadhaar an integral part of welfare programmes to achieve efficiency and effectiveness. The private sector applications have enabled new business models with the objective of inclusive growth and increased efficiency in benefit transfers.
The Digital Identity Research Initiative has three goals:

  • Production of high quality and timely research on digital identity, with a focus on Aadhaar, to address critical knowledge gaps
  • Targeted engagement with relevant stakeholders to ensure that research results can inform policy and strategy decisions, while the findings are effectively disseminated to ensure easy and wider access
  • Build a global research ecosystem for Digital Identity, with a focus on India

Tejasvita Trust: Program Director

Tejasvita Trust:

Tejasvita is focused on identifying and nurturing talented but underprivileged children, who may otherwise never realize their potential due to lack of proper exposure during their early years.Our long-term idea is to plan intervention programs in three age groups: ages 3 – 6, ages 6 -13 and ages 13 – 18. We are currently running our pilot program for 3 – 6 years age group with a total of 110 children, at two low income private schools in South Bangalore. The children are provided exposure across multiple faculties through our regular holistic interventions in their classrooms.

We are currently looking for a Program Director to run the operations and look into the scaling of our pilot program.

Responsibilities
• Develop working partnerships and long term relationships with the selected low income
private schools
• Oversee Tejasvita’s curriculum development for these schools
• Oversee the implementation of Tejasvita’s curriculum in the schools
• Hire teachers to work with the children at these low income private schools
• Coordinate training programs for Tejasvita teachers
• Implement assessment process that measures the progress of the children in various
developmental areas in consultation with the teachers
• Develop and implement a parental engagement program
• Research funding options for Tejasvita, develop relationships with potential funders to
secure funding.
• Publicize about Tejasvita in various forums
• Research options for placing talented children in good primary school programs
• Meet with the Tejasvita leadership team on a regular basis to report progress of the
program and the children. Suggest improvements in the program and activities as
necessary.

Desired qualifications and experience:

• Extensive experience implementing and scaling medium to large scale projects
• At least 3 years experience working with children in a child-friendly environment.
