Opportunities in Financial Inclusion with National Institute of Advanced Studies (NIAS)

National Institute of Advanced Studies invites – i) scholars with experience in ethnographic or qualitative research for a nine-month consultancy / ii) scholars with a Masters’ degree and a deep interest in a research career to apply for a one-year research fellowship – in financial inclusion. A visionary initiative by J R D Tata, the institute has a mandate to create leaders of substance and credibility in a variety of domains in India and to formulate policies, develop insights and carry out in-depth studies with the synergy of multidisciplinary research on a wide spectrum of issues. Consultants in Financial Inclusion

The RBI Programme on Interdisciplinary Approaches to Economic Issues at NIAS is now carrying out a major research project on financial inclusion. The Consultants in Financial Inclusion would have to carry out independent qualitative research in rural Karnataka on some specific aspects of financial inclusion.  They would have at least a Master’s degree in any discipline and be comfortable carrying out fieldwork in Kannada and writing academic reports in English.

 

One-year Research Fellowships in Financial Inclusion

The RBI Programme on Interdisciplinary Approaches to Economic Issues at NIAS is now carrying out a major research project on financial inclusion. The Fellows in Financial Inclusion would have an opportunity to work closely with experts in the field and gain first-hand experience of conducting multidisciplinary research. The Fellows would have aptitude for advanced research and an empathy with the potential beneficiaries of financial inclusion. Their Master’s degree could be in any discipline but they would be expected to have good data skills, either qualitative or quantitative if not both. They should also be excited by the prospect of doing occasional fieldwork in a rural environment.
