National Institute of Advanced Studies invites – i) scholars with experience in ethnographic or qualitative research for a nine-month consultancy / ii) scholars with a Masters’ degree and a deep interest in a research career to apply for a one-year research fellowship – in financial inclusion. The RBI Programme on Interdisciplinary Approaches to Economic Issues at NIAS is now carrying out a major research project on financial inclusion. The Consultants in Financial Inclusion would have to carry out independent qualitative research in rural Karnataka on some specific aspects of financial inclusion. They would have at least a Master’s degree in any discipline and be comfortable carrying out fieldwork in Kannada and writing academic reports in English.
The RBI Programme on Interdisciplinary Approaches to Economic Issues at NIAS is now carrying out a major research project on financial inclusion. The Fellows in Financial Inclusion would have an opportunity to work closely with experts in the field and gain first-hand experience of conducting multidisciplinary research. The Fellows would have aptitude for advanced research and an empathy with the potential beneficiaries of financial inclusion. Their Master’s degree could be in any discipline but they would be expected to have good data skills, either qualitative or quantitative if not both. They should also be excited by the prospect of doing occasional fieldwork in a rural environment.
