I have spent a few days a couple of months ago in a non-governmental organization which is working in a tribal area in Odisha state. That is an organization where three students from Azim Premji University are employed. The organization has a number of projects that require direct interaction with a tribal community. There are about 50 youngsters from different tribal communities (from different parts of the state and not necessarily from the community that lives in the locality) who are also working as the employees of this organization. I have noted that all students from our university work mainly in the `office’ preparing write ups and other documentations whereas the interaction with communities is carried out by local employees.
It seems that these three girls from our university have decided to leave that organization. I would consider these girls as genuinely interested and socially concerned students but are coming…
