About the orator: Dr. Mark Lindley was born in Washington DC in 1937 and studied at Harvard University (A.B.), Juilliard School of Music (M.A.) and Columbia University (D.Phil.). He has taught at Columbia, City University of New York, Washington University, University of London, Oxford University, University of Regensburg, University of Zaragoza, Bogaziçi University (in Istanbul), Chinese University of Hong Kong, University of Kerala, University of Hyderabad (as the University Chair Professor in the School of Economics) and Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University. He is the author or co-author of more than 15 books – three of them about Gandhi and notable Gandhians – and more than 100 scholarly articles.
