Tell Her Story

Tell Her Story is a contest sponsored by the Institute for South Asia Studies at UC Berkeley, Facebook, Secret Builders, Zareen’s, Folio3, and supported by Pepsi, India, that aims to gather and tell memorable stories about Remarkable Women in South Asia.

Do you know a woman with a remarkable untold story? Do you want to tell her story in the most creative way you can?

Submit a story to the “Tell Her Story” contest for a chance to get your story highlighted on Facebook and to win a Grand Prize of $5000 cash prize and a trip to the University of California at Berkeley to spend a week with scholars of gender, film and media studies. Top 3 entries win a round trip to UC Berkeley and cash awards!

What you need to do to submit a story:

Think of a woman from South Asia who has changed her life and/or the lives of others through her work, ideas, or presence

Tell her story in the most creative way you can
– through images (10 or less), or vines (<10), or a short video (<60 seconds)
– with a title of the story as well as accompanying text describing the story (<250 words in English).

Submit your entry by clicking on the “Submit your Entry” link that can be found in the menu on the left.

All eligible entries will be uploaded on the contest’s Facebook page.

DON’T WAIT TILL THE LAST MINUTE! STORIES WITH THE MOST FACEBOOK LIKES HAVE A HIGHER CHANCE OF WINNING!

All entries should be emailed in by January 31, 2018 by 5 pm Pacific Standard Time.

Remember, this is a contest not only about a remarkable woman but about the ability to tell her story as creatively as possible! Go ahead and submit your entry, and inspire a new generation of women to be writers, artists, activists, storytellers.
