Sustainable Farming Program: searching for confident female for field team

We represent the Responsible Farming Program at Marcatus QED, a global agri-foods solution company. We have been involved in this industry for 16 years, with a head office in Toronto, Canada, and an office located in Bangalore, India. Our Responsible Farming Program currently specializes in training smallholder farmers to effectively and sustainably grow Gherkins (pickling cucumbers) that reach international markets through a global supply chain.

We have an opening we currently have at our Bangalore office. We are looking for a Field Support Officer, who would be working closely with smallholder farmers, as well as other team members, to help implement educational and sustainability programs on farms in Southern India. We would like someone who is passionate, organized, a quick learner, a team player, and a confident presenter.

The ideal candidate must be adaptable and be comfortable with travel and working in the rural countryside as well as at our office in Bangalore. She/he must be eager and open to learning and exploring the complexities that exist within smallholder supply chains. The individual for this position must be able to speak Tamil and English, with Kannada and Telugu considered assets.

Marcatus QED is also involved with programs aimed specifically at educating female farmers, increasing their decision-making power on farms and in supply chains. In 2016, we won the Guardian Sustainable Business Award for the category of Diversity and Inclusion. Information and videos describing our Responsible Farming initiatives can be found here: http://www.marcatusqed.com/#responsibility. We see the ideal candidate for this position, therefore, to be female herself and to be passionate about increasing the social and economic mobility of women in India while promoting sustainable agricultural practices.
