Kalkeri Sangeet Vidyalaya (KSV) is a residential school which provides education to 250 children from socially and economically disadvantaged backgrounds. KSV teaches academic subjects, Hindustani Classical Music, traditional Dance and Drama. In addition, food, accommodation and healthcare are all provided free of cost. The Director of Student’s Welfare and Warden’s Coordinator ensures the students’ emotional, cultural and intellectual development, and that the students are well cared for in a dynamic, safe and stimulating environment. He or she will lead a team of 16 wardens and 5-10 foreign volunteers.

Profile

  • Minimum qualification – Under-Graduate Degree – Preferably BSW, BBA
  • Experience in management or/and school administration preferred
  • Language skills: Kannada spoken and written, English communication skills
  • Good knowledge of email and word-processing (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Good leadership qualities
  • Ability to work as a part of a team
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels with students, staff, and parents
  • Enthusiastic, dynamic approach to addressing issues of social change
  • Professional, flexible, conscientious, and able to act with discretion at all times
  • Effective mentoring, coaching and motivational skills
  • Set an exemplary personal standard of dress, behaviour and personal hygiene
  • Able to work upon your own initiative in a calm and patient manner
  • Able to demonstrate a genuine warmth and interest in the students in your care
  • Have an interest in contributing to the personal, social and professional upliftment of children from underprivileged backgrounds
  • Ability to adapt to a rural environment

Specific Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the warden team carry out their tasks efficiently and according to the institution’s ethics and principles
  • Ensure the student’s welfare
  • Support students’ emotional, cultural and intellectual development
  • Hostel management
  • Maintain close liaison with the Medical Centre staff at all times concerning students’ health
  • Maintain students’ personal files
  • Management of warden’s skill development strategy
  • Carry out a bi-annual evaluation of the wardens
  • Oversee the school Discipline Committee
  • Oversee the Student’s Council
  • Call and meet parents when necessary
  • Follow up with the school’s students that attend colleges and universities
  • Hire wardens as and when required

Place of work: Kalkeri Sangeet Vidyalaya, Kalkeri Village, Dharwad, 580007

Hours of Work: 6 days/week – 9.00am to 5.00pm – Staying on campus would be preferred, but not essential

Salary:  15,000 – 18,000 INR p/m dependent upon qualifications and experience

Starting date:  February 2017

Job Duration: We would love to have people work for several years with us, but a minimum of 2 years has been observed as an ideal benchmark for growth
