Introduction: Muskaan has been working with children, youth and adult communities in the slums of Bhopal in the area of education and collective empowerment. We believe that formal education needs to be a process through which the participants are able to learn skills and develop a critical perspective on understanding the realities around them, and responding to them. Schooling for children of marginalized communities has to build on a person’s self-esteem and dignity of the community. Engagement with communities are focused on building a collective understanding and  responses with children, youth and adults on issues affecting their lives and that are challenging the values of justice and equity in society.

Work Responsibilities:

The Research Officer will work in coordination with the Education Coordinator and help in developing the research component of our work. In the first phase, we would be examining the situation of children of de-notifed tribal communities in the state of Madhya Pradesh. The Research Officer should be able to –

  1. Carry out secondary data research for planning out the study
  2. Explore and develop a plan for data collection
  3. Be responsible for roll out of plan – tools, training, pilot-testing, etc.
  4. Travel to new places for data collection and guiding a team in this
  5. Be comfortable with databases and interested in analysis of data
  6. Prepare report and articles

Essential:

  • Interest to engage with marginalized communities and document their lives and situations
  • Demonstrated experience with coordinating research activities which may include training workshops, data form designing, data collection and data entry and management
  • Ability to work independently, efficiently,
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, including the ability to present materials in meetings
  • Ability to review, synthesize research information
  • Strong English and Hindi language skills

Pay Scale: This Post has the following scale of pay: Rs.17000-22000, based on experience and capacities.

Over the years, the work has grown to include the entire community and in the area of education and collective empowerment. Work Responsibilities: The Administrative Officer will work in coordination with the Core Group and help in fulfillment of organizational tasks required for a smooth program functioning.. S/he should be able to –

  1. Develop reports for the organization – quarterly reports and annual report
  2. Update the website and social media regularly
  3. Managing correspondence of administrative nature
  4. Process HR matters – filling vacancies, updating contracts
  5. Organize volunteers inflow
  6. Manage computer systems and equipments
  7. Support Secretary in calling for Board meetings and preparing meeting minutes etc.
  8. Translations of specific program reports and helping team members in their work with English documents.

Essential:

  • Strong written English language skills
  • proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office packages and online communication
  • Experience in writing letters and inter-office memoranda such as minutes and updates.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
